Jeff Curry

Jeff Curry was born in Lewisburg, West Virginia, on February 6, 1978. His musical journey started at age thirteen, when he picked up the trumpet, and shortly after, the electric bass. Jeff was soon playing in bands and writing original music with other local musicians. At age sixteen, Jeff began studying the string bass and dove into the jazz world, finding himself in the bass chair of the swing/jazz band "Ghost Town Swing."

After high school, Jeff went to the University of North Texas and studied with famed bassists Lynn Seaton and Jeff Bradetich. There, he had the opportunity to perform with legendary big bands and small ensembles. While in Texas, he also played in many situations outside of school — touring the United States with "Little Jack Melody and his Young Turks" and playing regularly with great Dallas musicians like Shelly Carol, Bernard Wright, Wayne Delano, and Brad Williams, just to name a few.

Jeff moved to Tokyo, Japan, in 2004. In Tokyo, he has been one of the busiest bassists on the scene, recording on many albums and releasing seven albums of his own original music. He founded and leads the bands The Outer Rim and Izmatik, and started Jeff Curry Music, a business providing buyout music for producers of various types of media. Jeff is also a regular member of many original projects in Japan and online, and has performed and recorded with pop-world artists such as The Jill-Decoy Association and Koyanagi Yuki.

Jeff has performed at the Tokyo Jazz Festival, the Denton Texas Arts and Jazz Festival, the Fort Worth Main Street Festival, the Toshima Jazz Cruise, and many other venues large and small across the United States, Japan, South America, Mexico, Tahiti, and Malaysia. He is currently gigging and composing music for his original and commercial endeavors, and as an in-demand session bassist, records contrabass and electric bass for clients around the world.

ジェフ・カリー

1978年2月6日、アメリカ・ウェストバージニア州ルイスバーグ生まれ。13歳でトランペットを始め、その後まもなくエレキベースを手にする。すぐにバンド活動を始め、地元のミュージシャンたちと自作曲を書くようになる。16歳でコントラバスを学び始め、ジャズの世界にのめり込む。スウィング/ジャズバンド「Ghost Town Swing」のベーシストとして活動。

高校卒業後、ジャズの名門校ノーステキサス州立大学に入学し、著名ベーシストのリン・シートンとジェフ・ブラデティッチに師事。同校では伝説的なビッグバンドや小編成アンサンブルでの演奏機会を得る。テキサス在学中は学外でも数多くの現場を経験し、「Little Jack Melody and his Young Turks」とともに全米ツアーを行ったほか、シェリー・キャロル、バーナード・ライト、ウェイン・デラーノ、ブラッド・ウィリアムズをはじめとするダラスの名だたるミュージシャンたちと定期的に共演した。

2004年に来日、東京を拠点に活動を開始。以来、東京のシーンで最も多忙なベーシストの一人として、数多くのアルバムのレコーディングに参加する他、自身のオリジナル作品としてこれまでに7枚のアルバムをリリースしている。バンド「The Outer Rim」と「Izmatik」を結成・主宰し、さまざまなメディア向けに買い取り音楽を提供する事業「Jeff Curry Music」を立ち上げた。日本国内外の数多くのオリジナルプロジェクトにも定期的に参加しており、「The Jill-Decoy Association」や小柳ゆきといったポップスの世界のアーティストとの共演・レコーディング経験も持つ。

東京ジャズフェスティバル、デントン(テキサス)アーツ・アンド・ジャズフェスティバル、フォートワース・メインストリート・フェスティバル、豊島ジャズクルーズをはじめ、アメリカ、日本、南米、メキシコ、タヒチ、マレーシアなど、大小さまざまな会場で演奏してきた。現在もオリジナル作品や商業音楽の制作・演奏活動を続けており、需要の高いセッションベーシストとして、コントラバスとエレキベースの両方で世界中のクライアントのレコーディングを手がけている。
